L’ONU Genève ouvre une enquête sur les crimes de Khadafi

The UN has opened a probe into allegations of torture used by Muammar Gaddafi’s forces.

Its special rapporteur for torture, Juan Mendez, confirmed he is looking into “allegations under the Gaddafi regime” since the Libyan leader’s forces began their brutal suppression of protests and crackdown on opponents last month.

Speaking at the UN’s European headquarters in Geneva, Mr Mendez said Gaddafi’s use of torture and illegal detention in the past is “very well-documented”.

He would not specify what he is looking into when asked if he would probe media reports that Gaddafi’s soldiers are using ambulances to remove patients from hospitals and execute them.
